Road Rash : City of Austin street resurfacing policy:

1: Spray tar on road
2: Spread gravel on tar
3: Leave big piles of loose gravel for cyclists to slip on.
4: Somehow claim that this constitutes 'resurfacing'.

Thanks to the hard-working City of Austin road crew for helping me to exfoliate and resurface my forearm.

2004-06-13: Tai Chi Today at Texas Parks and Wildlife : Taken behind the Texas Parks and Wildlife administration building in south Austin. Luckily, Mother Nature cooperated with us and gave us fairly sublime and picturesque cloudscapes above. Light was provided via two stand-mounted Nikon flashes and Pocket Wizards for remote triggering. The challenge during this shoot came from the constantly changing lighting situations (literally second by second as the sun goes down).
The problem lies in manually changing the flash output level combined with the changing ambient light levels, combined with the constantly changing flash-subject distance. A challenging but rewarding shoot!

Thanks to Sean Gooden for offering me this opportunity. I would take it again in a heartbeat!

Broken Moots : While riding my beautiful Moots Rigor Mootis in the 2006 Muddy Buddy Bike n' Run, I was climbing out of the saddle on the final leg of the race. All of a sudden, something gave way, I endo'd off my bike, and the entire rear wheel assembly gave way. After determining I could still move my arms and legs, I exampled my bike, and discovered that not only had the rear wheel came off, so had the rear dereailer. Further examination revealed the (hollow for some reason) bolt had completely snapped.

Luckily, there was still a hex-shaped hole in the bolt part left inside the frame, so I was able to extract it with a regular hex key.

Now where to get these bolts...
